Programs for Work-Integrated Learning

Have Your Field Placement or Internship With Us

Our core programs are available to all Centennial students to take as their work-integrated learning option, including internship and field placement placement. They can participate in these programs, as well as support the coordination and delivery of the various programs and activities of the Centre.

Students are placed with COIE:

  • For training in administration of entrepreneurship program management and delivery
  • Participation in Design Sprint / Challenge program (as part of training)
  • 5-week placement in Rapid Start program (as part of training)
  • Placement in our Special Workshop Series (Changepreneur, Artpreneur, Techpreneur, Foodpreneur, Solopreneur, Sustainability, Leadership)
  • 10-week placement in Incubation Experience program

WIL pathways are flexible based on time requirement, schedule and school preference.

Typical pathways include:

  • WIL with focus on training in administration / program and event coordination augmented with participation in
    1. Design Sprint/Weekend Challenge or
    2. 5-week Rapid Start program
  • WIL placing students into the 10-week Incubation Experience program 

Upon completion, participants are able to 

  • assist in planning, organizing and delivering virtual and in-person complex events and programs
  • explore opportunities based on solutions to problems using vision and creativity, 
  • develop an initial business concept using business modelling and virtual collaboration tools, 
  • validate the concept and adjust or pivot based on market feedback received, and 
  • develop and present an initial business model for implementation

WIL learning outcomes, skill development and competencies include most skills identified by the World Economic Forum as Top 10 Skills of 2025:

  • analytical thinking and innovation as students develop and validate their novel concepts and ideas
  • active learning through agile, experiential methods, including flipped classroom and learning by doing in a team environment
  • critical thinking and complex problem solving as they go through validated concept iterations
  • creativity, originality and initiative as they initiate and develop the concepts and ideas with support of the methodology and guided by expert mentors
  • leadership and social influence through teamwork and concept development
  • resilience and flexibility through iterations and potential pivot
  • reasoning and ideation throughout the development process
